who is old enough to be part of the fanfic.net era where we literally talked to our characters? like, had conversations with them?

cause I do. as a lonely child of 12 who had no friends, it was a favorite pasttime of mine to boot up the dial-up internet and type out imaginary conversations with ouran high school host club characters in the beginning notes before even starting the damn chapter (which was inevitably 500 words long and absolutely awful)

Modern Author’s Note on Ao3: might discuss some possible triggers, thank readers for comments, apologize for a delay in update, etc–talking to reader, essentially.

Author’s Note on FFN back in 2010:

Author: Y’all are gonna love this cahpter!!!! [Character] not sooooo much

Character:…wh–what’s gonna happen?

Author: Don’t worry about it! ^.^

Character: WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME??

Author: ;)

Character: D:

those were dark, dark days, man. Today’s Fandom Freshman are sure lucky they missed this.

This when right alongside the detailed disclaimers to avoid lawsuits.

Don’t forget that the author was broken into at least five separate voices, ‘Inside Out’ style.

or where you would have ask blogs for your ocs except it was just in a ff.net story. basically an entire classic authors note except people would ask questions. that was my childhood.

chachkisalpaca

Y'all forgot that sometimes we also appeared in the middle of the text with notes like “(author: noooo >:( character is such a b*tch!!!! character: I’M NOT!!!!)” And it was the crimgiest shit ever but we had fun doing it lmao

So it appears that Autodesk did a thing.

Go nuts, my friends.

this is my favorite art program. it’s *much* more intuitive than photoshop/gimp or corel paintshop, but it still has the full functionality of a digital art program (layers, brush stabilizer, etc.). it’s not overwhelming to start on like practically every other decent art program I’ve tried, you can just pick a brush and start drawing as if it were paper if you want. plus you can download extra brushes for free! and they publish free art tutorials pretty regularly

ANYONE looking for a free art program: worth looking into.

YALL I LOVE THIS PROGRAM, especially the ipad version!! and i’m psyched that i don’t have to pay $30 a year for it anymore!!!

Hand up if your G1 Soundwave looks like this:

image

(Source: Flickr - Francisco Wong)

You may have the running change variant with the altered door hinge and the unified button assembly, you may have a rubsign instead of a Decepticon logo. But looks pretty right, yes?

Here’s the problem: those red and black stickers don’t belong there, they belong on the ends of the weapons.

Hasbro’s instructions tell you to do it.

And it appears that way on the box.

But Hasbro’s images are wrong. The stickers originate from Soundwave’s Micro Change predecessor, Cassette Man, where the black section had the word “Cassette” in it.

Thirty-something years of Transformers and I just learned this today on TFW2005′s boards.

It always seemed like a strange detail, and nobody ever put them on straight.

What if you want to fix yours? Reproduction sticker sheets can be found on ToyHax (formerly Reprolabels, where they also designate them for the wrong locations) or eBay; you might occasionally find a genuine sticker sheet on the latter.

Based on the top of the box in the stock image, it looks like it’s too late for Hasbro to fix it in their “Vintage G1” reissue; it seems they really are going for that authentic 80s experience.

Until they do fix it, remember: friends don’t let friends sticker Soundwave incorrectly.
